A warm welcome at World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit

Last week at World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in San Francisco, we formally introduced Pivot Bio to the rest of the AgTech industry. Since 2011, our team has been quietly discovering once dormant microbes and re-igniting their natural ability to spoon-feed crops nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Pivot Bio shared with the industry how far along we are in our production timeline. In fact, we just announced our beta testing program for this summer: “Intent to Pivot.” This pre-commercial, large-scale plot testing with early adopting farmers will help ensure a smooth transition to a full commercial launch in 2019.

The interest in this news was overwhelming. I was both inspired and humbled by the number of visitors stopping at our booth and the opportunities to speak with reporters at Forbes, Brownfield Ag News, Successful Farming, San Francisco Business Times, along with several others. Whether it was a big seed company, an investor or a peer, we had meaningful interactions with hundreds of people all dedicated to the advancement of production agriculture.

I also had the privilege of participating in a panel alongside industry colleagues to discuss “The Changing Face of Crop Protection & Demand for Bio-Based Solutions.” I was pleased to share results from Pivot’s 2017 studies, including research data showing our microbes supply up to 25–30 pounds of nitrogen per acre for a corn crop. These measurements also provided insight on how our microbes produce nitrogen on a daily-basis to enable a crop to thrive. The data also enables us to project that our next generation microbes supply 100 pounds of nitrogen per acre.

I look forward to continue testing our microbes at scale and working alongside our partner farmers to make their jobs of growing crops easier and more productive. Our team has a lot more exciting work ahead of us as we move from planting, to the growing season and transition into harvest. Also, several of our team members will be speaking at upcoming industry events in the world of ag tech, both domestic and abroad. Check back here and on our social networks in the coming weeks for further details.
